Here is just a few of our favourite things to do in our local area.

Beaches...

Westward Ho! - Just a 5 min drive from us, this blue flag awarded beach is 2.5 km long and at low tide is about 800m wide, That is a lot of Beach!! and it's RNLI Lifeguarded during the Summer months. Dog Friendly, dogs are allowed on the any part of the Beach between 1st of Oct til 30th of April. During the summer dogs are allowed on certain areas of the Beach.

Instow Beach - A great sandy, Dog friendly beach, just 10 mins drive or you can even get the Appledore / Instow ferry across for the day. Lots of restaurants & Bars for a morning coffee or lunch after you stroll on the beach.

Woolacombe Beach - Three miles of sweeping, uninterupted golden sands & crystal clear waters.

Croyde Beach - A golden sandy bay, One of the prettiest spots along the coast & also the best surf. It sits between two headlands which offer some protection against the wind.

Saunton Sands Beach - Golden Sands backed by impressive dunes. Another Popular beach for Surfers & one of the Most Stunning beaches in North Devon.

Walking...

The South West Coast Path - Whether your looking for an short afternoon stroll that leads you to an amazing view spot, or your looking for a challenge like no other then hiking the South West Coast Path has a verity of different walks. The scenery, wildlife & heritage you'll encounter is amazing.

Valley Of The Rocks - Tree-clad headlands, woodland walks & spectacular rocks, this area gives you great views over the dramatic landscape. If you chose a clear day you can see across the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast.

Watersmeet - This National Trust trail has beautiful scenery & wildlife. A number of trails through 200 acres of river gorge & woodland. Wildlife to lookout for, Red Deer, Buzzards & even otters.

Tarka Trail - This trail takes you through an ever changing variety of wonderful Devon scenery, dramatic coast, river valleys & moorland. Its one of the country's Longest traffic-free, continuous walking & Cycling paths at just over 30 miles.

Shopping...

Affinity Devon Outlet Shopping - Just 10 mins drive, this outlet shopping centre has over 30 stores offering discounted high street fashion & lifestyle brands. It also has a number of cafes & a soft play area for the Children. 

Bideford - Bideford town offers a diverse range of shops aswell as its historic Pannier Market. A must visit is Butchers Row & Market Place this is an unusaul arts & craft, gift & general market with cafes.

Barnstaple - Its the shopping capital of North Devon. The High street is the Place to go, shops, pubs & restaurants. Green lanes shopping centre is also located on the high street.

Days out and Places to Visit...

Lundy Island - No.1 on our list, Lundy lies off the Coast of North Devon, where the Atlantic meets the Bristol Channel. A day trip to Lundy, you can take MSC Oldenberg from Bideford or Ilfracombe across to Lundy where you get the Day to Explore before returning that evening. Dolphins, Seals & Puffins are just some of the Wildlife you'll see on your Day trip.

Dartington Crystal - The UK's only remaining glass factory, Weekdays they run a factory tour, demonstrations, glass painting and hand casting. The Visitors Centre is open everyday, lots of shopping ideas for gifts & christmas. Visitors centre & shop are also dog friendly.

Clovelly - The Picturesque, ancient fishing village is a must. Clinging to a 400ft Cliff, it has no vehicular traffic, just donkeys & sledges. The steep cobbled street leads you down to the Quay full of local fishing boats and a small pebbled beach. Not forgetting the Pub... you'll need a Beer & Lunch before you head back upto the top.

Lynton & Lynmouth - These twin villages are situated on the edge of exmoor. There connected by the cliff railway, it is the highest & steepest totally water powered railway in the world... you must take a ride, the views of the bay are spectacular. Lynton and Lynmouth are full of Quirky shops & great places to eat.

The Big Sheep - Great for all ages.. The Rampage rollercoaster for thrill seekers, little ones will love the animal barn & pets corner. Great shows you wont get anywhere else... The Sheepey show, Duck trials, Sheep racing to name a few... There's even an on site Brewery & Gin Distillery. Finally a Souvenir shop that's got something for the adults too.
